Humans can only survive from 3 to 5 days without water. Look around you right now. The person sitting at the desk next to you probably has a water bottle they sip on throughout the day. The runner on the treadmill next to you at the gym carries a bottle to stay hydrated throughout his/her workout. Even dogs and cats need a bowl of fresh H20 to drink throughout the day. Without water we would all die.
Luckily, with your help we can live. The International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) strongly supports legislation in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives that aims to help communities nationwide better prepare for the future of our water sources, according to an article in Plumbing Engineer.
W21: Water in the 21st Century would:
- Expand rebates and grants for water conservation and efficiency
- Support local investments in water recycling
- Improve groundwater and storage
- Invest in research into water-saving technologies and desalination
- Establish an open water data system
- Help local communities take steps to become better prepared for drought.
If this legislation is passed, our local tradesmen will be given the tools to help us all participate in water conservation! How do you conserve today?
