We are proud to present geothermal fittings by Ground Energy Systems, a brand we just started carrying a couple weeks ago. Geothermal heat pumps are an increasingly popular option for homeowners; it is seen as a cost-efficient system, as well as environmentally conscious. They function similarly to other HVAC/R equipment in which heat travels to cold locations. A geothermal HVAC system has an electrically powered heat pump that cycles fluid—most often water or refrigerant—through pipes underground. Rock and soil raise the temperature of the fluid and it’s pumped back to the building where a heat exchanger then transfers the heat from the liquid to the heating system to cycle warm air.
All of Ground Energy Systems’ fittings are crafted from PE100/PE470 resin. Since they are made from material with the highest current HDPE ratings, they are compatible with other pipe types (such as PE3408 and PE3608) in geothermal heat pump projects. What’s better than having limitless choices for your next geothermal installations?
These fittings plan for your client’s futures—and yours, too, if you are the contractor who was called out to work on an old geothermal system. All fittings made by Ground Energy Systems has the material type, date of manufacturer, part/SKU number, and important ASTM marking printed on it. I’ve had numerous calls throughout my time working at SupplyHouse.com where my caller can no longer read the part number off a sticker on an item due to it being rubbed off or worn down over the years. Luckily, this is not a concern for those who purchase these geothermal products!
If you type “geothermal fittings” into our search bar, here are a few options that will come up: Geo Glide Thin Wall Sweep Elbow, Socket Fusion Coupling, Socket Fusion Reducer, Socket Fusion Tees, and even a Fusion Adapter (geothermal socket by male threads).
Heads up! You will need additional equipment to prepare and install the Socket Fusion fittings, including chamfering tools, a depth gauge, pipe cutters, heating tool, cold ring clamp, a timing device, clean gloves, and a lint-free cloth.
Here’s a closer look at one of these products. Geo Glide 90 Elbow include ribbed design with a textured surface for gripping, limited 50-year warranty, and a strong resistance to corrosion and abrasion. These are pressure rated at 100 PSI. Their sweep radius reduces potential pressure drops and avoids insulation bunching up. Ground Energy Systems offers this elbow in the following sizes: 3/4”, 1”, 1-1/4”, 1-1/2”, and 2”.
It sounds pretty nifty, we know. These unique items are newer on the market, but the manufacturing company has dedicated much of their time to making sure geothermal systems have stable and easy-to-use components.
