The Honeywell T4 Pro Programmable Thermostat has several programmable and non-programmable options that can be fine tuned to your schedule. But how do you get it to do what you need? Read the instructions below or watch the video at the end of this post to learn how. Or do both if you really want to be sure.
1) Power up the Unit
Once on, press the Select button to awaken the screen.
2) Setting the Year
Press the Plus or Minus buttons to choose the year you want and press the Select button to finalize. (I suggest choosing the current year)
3) Setting the Month
Once the year is selected it will automatically ask you for the month. Again, use the Plus and Minus buttons to navigate the months and hit Select to finalize.
4) Setting the Day
Just like with the month, you will be automatically asked to select the day, use the Plus and Minus buttons to navigate, and hit Select when the right one is on the screen.
5) Choosing Clock Format
Next, you will be asked to choose between a 12 and 24 hour clock. Use the Plus, Minus, and Select buttons to make your decision.
6) Setting the Time
As you have been doing, use the Plus, Minus, and Select buttons to choose the time, but here you can press and hold either Plus or Minus to cycle through the numbers faster. (While it might seem like a fun prank to set the time wrong and confuse people, it is important to set the time correctly for the rest of the programming to work properly.)
After selecting your time your base settings will be saved!
1) Get to the Home Screen
This is an easy one, press the Home button and you’re there. This will be your hub to navigate the rest of your options.
2) Select your System Mode
Press the Mode button to cycle through the Heat, Cool, and Off modes until the one you want is displayed.
3) Advanced Menu
To access the Advanced Menu press the Menu button from the Home screen. From here you will be able to adjust the thermostat settings like Program Schedule and the Base Settings. Navigate them with the Plus and Minus buttons.
4) Turning Programming On or Off
Through the Advance Menu cycle through until “PROG” is displayed on the screen then press Select. From here you will be presented with On or Off options which you can navigate and choose via the Plus, Minus, and Select buttons.
5) Program Schedules
From the end of step 4 select On. Once there you will be able to navigate and select the desired program schedule with the Plus, Minus, and Select buttons. For each schedule you will be able to program up to four time periods each day, with different settings for weekdays and weekends. The times periods are;
- Wake: When you wake up.
- Away: When you leave the house for the day.
- Home: When you return home for the evening.
- Sleep: When you go to bed at night.
6) Setting and Editing Program Schedules
After selecting the time period to edit the system will have you set the Heating Schedule. Using the Plus, Minus, and Select buttons choose the exact Time you want. After that you will be prompted to select the Temperature you want. After that you will move onto the Cooling schedule for that time period. Follow the same steps as for Heating to complete this Schedule.
7) Turning Off Certain Time Periods
If you do not want to have one or more of the Time Periods (Wake, Away, Home, Sleep) active navigate the menu and select the one you do not want. From here use the Plus or Minus buttons to switch from On to Off and then press Select.
8) Finalize Changes
Once everything is set just how you want, press the Home button and return to the home screen. There will be a screen that reads “Save” before the home screen appears. Don’t worry, you can always return to your settings and make any adjustments you want.
9) Overriding the Programmed Schedule
If you need to make a temporary or permanent change to the currently set temperature, press the Plus button on the Home screen. Then the small temperature will begin flashing. Adjust this to the temperature you want it to be and press the the Hold button to temporarily or permanently change the temperature.
10) Fan Options
There are two options here. Fan Auto which only runs when the system is on and Fan On which runs continuously. Press the Fan button on the Home screen to choose between the two.
