Krav Maga is an Israeli self defense system that was developed by the Israeli Defense Force, IDF, in the 1940s. It is currently taught to all Israeli soldiers. In Israel, military service is mandatory for men and women once they reach the age of 18, so Krav Maga is an extremely wide known skill in the area. It is meant for defending oneself against threatening situations by teaching you to be aware and disciplined if a threat were to arise.
The team really enjoyed participating in the course! During the lesson we learned that there are several different vulnerable points on the body. These points cannot be strengthened regardless of how hard a person tries to strengthen them (eyes, nose, groin, throat, etc.). For example, you can go to the gym as much as you want, but you’ll never be able to make your eyes bigger and stronger! We learned different tactics on how to defend an attack and how to retaliate by attacking one of these vulnerable points. Partnered up with another team member, we practiced these self defense moves. All in all the team had an awesome time, and were talking about it for days afterwards!
