Time and time again, toilet paper has proven it is one of the most versatile, multi-use products ever. Who would have thought, but toilet paper wedding dresses are a thing. And they come with a pretty good incentive: a $10,000 prize for the best design!
Yup, you read that right; the grand prize for the best wedding dress is $10k, with second and third place prizes of $5k and $2.5k, respectively. And the famous contest has been around for 15 years! CharmWeddings.com (formerly Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com) was founded over 15 years ago by sisters Laura Gawne and Susan Bain. To gain more awareness for their website that shares tips, tricks, and ideas on wedding planning, they created the World Famous Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest. And it worked; their audience has grown massively as a result of this unique and one-of-a-kind competition.
Sponsored by Quilted Northern, the TP Dress Challenge is underway for this year! Entries are only accepted until May 22, 2019. This year, for the first time, contestants can enter their dress designs into categories such as Traditional, Modern, and Cultural. It just adds a new element of designing into the already creative and draining process. I wonder if there’s a recommended ply amount for the dress construction.
The question remains: would you wear a wedding dress made out of toilet paper? If you don’t love it…do you just flush it? Think you could create a royal design worthy of being crowned the champion of the TP wedding dress challenge? If so, you can check out the rules and submission guidelines here: https://www.tpdresscontest.com/
The next time you’re at your local grocery or wholesale store, you might want to consider stocking up on toilet paper…you never know what you might need it for.
