Johnson Controls first introduced the room thermostat well over a century ago. The release of the GLAS smart thermostat earlier this year marked an exciting new chapter in innovation. With a goal of creating a beautiful and functional thermostat that brings commercial technology to a residential product, Johnson Controls teamed up with Microsoft to reinvent the smart thermostat.
GLAS operates on the Windows 10 IoT Core operating system, and features voice control compatible with Microsoft Cortana, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. Its fully transparent touchscreen displays key information, including weather and forecasts, in an easy-to use interface.
The GLAS app allows remote access to the thermostat on mobile devices. The thermostat saves energy by automatically adjusting settings based on usage habits and occupancy. Built-in air sensors provide real-time indoor and outdoor air quality information, allowing smart fan and ventilator control options to improve indoor air quality.
