National Random Acts of Kindness Day was on Sunday, February 17th this year, but at SupplyHouse.com we celebrated it on Friday, February 15th. In our New York office, we broke up into 10 groups, and each group was given a $100 budget. From there, we had to decide what our random act of kindness would be. Some groups donated blankets and supplies to animal shelters or food and clothing to the homeless. Others decided to walk around stores and hand out gift cards to shoppers or pay for someone’s bill at a restaurant. No matter what each group did, though, we all ended the day by feeling like we had made a difference in our community. By giving back, we changed someone else’s life, and that impact is priceless.
- We went to Petco as Team Dog and Team Cat and bought supplies, which we then brought over to the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter
- We went to Moe’s and Dunkin Donuts and purchased a $50 gift card for each place and had the cashier swipe it until it ran out
- We donated socks, soup, and feminine care products to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless
- We went to Farmingdale State College and handed out Starbucks gift cards to students
- We went to Babylon Animal Shelter and brought snuggle blankets and SupplyHouse swag toys
- We surprised shoppers in Target with gift cards
Learn more about our giving back events and our core values, and hopefully this will inspire you to do a random act of kindness for someone else, too!
I paid for a young couple with a little girls dinner as I paid for mine
Steve, that’s so kind of you! Thank you for sharing your random act of kindness with up. Hopefully it helps inspire others to do the same.
Way to go Supply House.
