The New York office started their first giving back initiative of the year, and it went off without a hitch! We partnered with ACLD, Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental disabilities, in running a clothing drive for their RewearAble’s program!
RewearAble is a green program which is designed to provide sustainable employment for adults with developmental disabilities. The program currently employs around 17 individuals who run the entire operation from sorting and washing clothes, scheduling pickups, organizing clothing drives, and more.
Not only does RewearAble provide employment for adults with disabilities, but it also helps the environment by creating opportunities to truly recycle used clothing and other garments like bedding, towels, shoes, and more. Not a single item that is donated ends up in landfills. In fact, some of it goes back to ACLD to provide community members with much needed clothing.
SupplyHouse.com’s clothing drive began February 1st and is running through March 1st. Within the first couple of days employees donated about 20 bags right off the bat!
We’re very excited about how many donations we will collect, and we’re even more excited to work with ACLD on other projects in the future!
